Recordist is a bot-free, local-first meeting recorder. It records, transcribes and summarises your meetings on your own computer, and it asks before it records.

What it does: It records, transcribes and summarises meetings on your own computer, and no bot joins your call.
Privacy: It's local-first, so recording, transcription and summaries all happen on your own computer. It asks before it records.
Platforms: It runs on Mac today, and Windows and Linux are in early access.
Availability: Early access is by invitation for now. The Free, Pro and Team plans open with the public release.

Open source

Recordist gateway

The open-source companion to Recordist, published as @recordist/gateway. It lets AI assistants read the meetings recorded on your own computer.

What it does: It gives AI assistants a way to read meetings that Recordist has recorded on your computer.
Protocols: It speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and A2A, an open protocol for agents that work with other agents.
Where it listens: It listens on loopback only, so it answers requests from your own computer and can't be reached from your network or the internet.
Licence: It's released under the MIT licence, with the full source on GitHub.

Why we build our own products

Building products lets us try our own advice at our own risk before we recommend it to anyone else.

Recordist brings together the things we care about most: rules written first, privacy by default and open protocols that let other tools connect safely. The lessons we learn there feed straight back into our client work.
